Blending intimate songwriting with dreamy shoegaze atmospheres and riffs inspired by 80’s post-punk, shadow sides create a dramatic, emotionally compelling sound. They are influenced by the tortured poetry of Elliott Smith and the romantic, imaginative arrangements of The Cure and Slowdive, yet they retain a distinctly modern aesthetic, thanks in part to the clever lyrical musings of co-singer-songwriters William Thad and John Elliott and the cathedral drumming of Aaron Montes. Their debut full-length ‘Dissolve the Frame’ showcases the group’s ability to explore existential themes while retaining an undeniable sense of pop accessibility. The album is an intriguing introduction and a vital new addition to LA’s thriving underground scene.
